The Hades Gate
The Hades Gate can silence that pesky hum and feedback between notes, but it does't alter your tone at all!
We are offering two different versions so that you can choose which will suit you best. Both are currently built and ready to ship!
Hades Gate $199USD
Simple to use noise gate that when placed in your effects loop can offer total silence between notes.
Hades Ultra Gate $299USD (Special Order after the current stock runs out)
The Hades Ultra Gate features two independent gates in one that are always on (No Footswitch). They have independent controls so that you can tailor the threshold to be positioned literally anywhere in your signal chain! You could even use it for two separate guitarists.
The Ultra Gate is larger than the single gate, but smaller than two individual gates and features top mounted jacks to save pedalboard space. Perfect for a very simple rig with insane gain levels. PLEASE NOTE: The Hades Ultra Gate is a SERIOUS noise gate. If you don't absolutely NEED this version, then you don't need this version. The regular Hades is more than enough for most rigs.
Why multiple gates?
Running dual gates can make a big difference. One as the very first pedal in the chain keeps the noise your pickups are picking up from causing feedback. The one in the loop keeps the preamp noise from making it to the power amp.
This also lets you be more conservative on the threshold settings and gives you a better balance between zero noise and picking articulation.
Threshold
This sets the amount of signal that opens and closes the gate. Higher settings will close more aggressively and keep the noise from higher gain levels under control.
Release
*Located Internally. This controls how the gate reacts. If you're finding it closes too quickly, a small adjustment should be all you need. Depending on your rig you may need to adjust it quite a bit. *Please note: due to the high current draw a cheap power supply may make the gate seem difficult to trigger. Just ensure that yours is rated high enough and decent quality and you won't have an issue.
Gain
*Located internally. Thanks to the clever design of this circuit, you can actually achieve moderate boost levels and an increase in clarity.
The Hades Gate features a stable bi-polar power supply that keeps it from breaking up into clipping as well as provides additional clarity. DO NOT run more than 9volts into the Hades or you will damage it. The internal power supply gives you better quality than any amount of voltage will give you. Also keep in mind that the Hades Ultra draws 74mA of current at idle so be sure your power supply is a quality one or the gate will not react properly.
