THE D4RK FORCE HIGH GAIN PREAMP
Coming This Summer!
Another addition to our new lineup of high gain preamps. This one is based on the Mark series of amps and is a stark contrast in tone to the 51-Filthy and SPEC-Defier. Featuring a unique signal chain that places the tonestack after the first gain stage, the controls play a much larger part in shaping the gain character rather than just changing its overall eq.
Volume: This is the most obvious. It makes the pedal louder. If you're using this pedal as a Preamp going into a dedicated power amp or effects return, its best to turn it all the way down the first time you use it, rather than have your neighbors three doors down surprisingly discover your power amp doesn't have a master volume.
Treble: This controls how biting and sharp the gain character is. Lower settings will result in a smoother tone, higher settings will be brighter and sharper.
Mid: This shapes the midrange being distorted. There's no "wrong" setting but the sweet spot is typically around noon or higher.
Bass: This dials in how much low end gets sent into the rest of the signal chain. Lower settings can be aggressively tight. Crank it up to add more meat to your chugs.
Drive: This could be considered a secondary Gain control as it comes partway through the signal chain when the typical is found right after the first gain stage.
Gain: Use this as you would any other Gain control, but for some added fine tuning you can use this at the same time as the Drive control to sculpt your own unique tone. Less Drive and more Gain will give you more of the tone of the first gain stage. Lower Gain settings and higher Drive settings will give you more of the sound of the overall circuit.
Power: The D4RK Force is designed to be run at 9volts, but can happily accept 18volts.
